Believe it or not, Christina and I will be running the Dexter-Ann Arbor 10K Race on June 3rd. I don’t know what possessed me – maybe an early mid-life crisis… ha!
Christina loves to run and she wanted to enter into a race, so I was thinking that this will be a great way to do something together and to show my support for her.
In all honesty, I do not like running just for the sake of running. I ran in soccer games and basketball games, but to run just for running… hmm.
So I came up with 3 good reasons for this insanity:
1) The Challenge – I realized that I love challenges and when Christina challenged me, it was game over.
2) The Conditioning – as I am getting older, it is that much more important to make sure that I am healthy and my body is in good condition.
3) The Companionship – this is a good way for me to spend the extra time with Christina and even strengthen our marriage as we do something together.
For those of you who are metrically challenged, a 10K race is about 6.2 miles. I thought to myself that is so simple. But today, in order to start training, I ran 2 miles with Christina. I thought Jesus was going to come back today!
I will try to update you on the progress through the weeks. Today, I ran 2 miles in 29 minutes. I am in trouble.
