E. M. Bounds was a Methodist minister that had a great burden for prayer. Many of his writings are inspiring and insightful on the topic of prayer. You can read up read up on some of his writings here.
E. M. Bounds writes (parentheses mine), “The church is looking for better methods. God is looking for better men (and women). What the church needs today is not more and better machinery, a new organization or more enabled methods, but men (and women), men (and women) whom the Holy Ghost can use. Men (and women) of prayer. Men (and women) mighty in prayer. The Holy Ghost does not flow through methods, but through men (and women). He does not come on machinery, but on men (and women). He does not anoint plans, but men (and women). Men (and women) of prayer.”
The Church has relied too much on new strategies, methods and the next “new thing.” But God is looking for men and women of prayer. I am wondering if we are constantly missing out on what God is doing because we are focused on the wrong things.
I am pumped to start this new series called, “Ancient Prayers.” We are going to look into the Bible and specifically look at some of the extraordinary prayers lifted up by ordinary people. This series will help develop a life of communicating with God and experiencing God’s anointing to do His will.
