Kenya Visit Update 3

After spending several days here in Nairobi with Dr. Steve Lee we are getting ready to leave tomorrow morning to head out to Uganda. Here are some takeaways from this short trip to Kenya (the 3 F’s):

1) Friendship – It is amazing how I have known some of these brothers for close to 24 years. Our friendships have developed and matured over the years and I am realizing that it is a very special thing. We closed out tonight by spending some time in prayer for one another. It is just another reminder that a measure of a true friendship is not just based on “hanging out” but on a spiritual foundation.

2) Focus – As I spent time with these brothers, I had time to really focus and re-focus on the things that God has called me to do. There is something about “iron sharpening iron” that makes things more clear. After hearing all the various things that God is doing in their lives and ministries, I was reminded that needed to be faithful to what God has called me to do. We all have different gifts and calling and we need to do our part to contribute to the bigger picture of spreading the Gospel.

3) Future – For some reason, I felt like it would be awesome if sometime in the future we would be able to all work together to build God’s Kingdom. A lot of times when we thinking about the future, it leaves us confused and even feeling a bit uncertain. But the things of the future always require tremendous faith and trust in the Lord. I don’t know where we will all be in the next 10-15 years, but it is our desire that we will serve God’s purposes in our generation.
