This morning the family and I went to a blueberry farm. We have always enjoyed picking fresh fruit and then using them to make different dishes. Since one of the kids’ favorite fruit is blueberries, they like it in their pancakes and muffins.
As we were picking the blueberries there was a teaching moment with Karissa. She noticed that all the good blueberries were located deep in the blueberry bush. Karissa asked, “Daddy, why are all the good blueberries so hard to get?” I told her that some of the best things in life do not come easily. In fact, there are always obstacles and hardships that will come. This is why we always have to be focused, as we go through life with diligence and perseverance.
I don’t think she understood everything that I was trying to teach her, but she did appreciate where to find all the big, juicy blueberries.
